(The hill) – Old President Trump announced he would hold a press conference from Mar-a-Lago on Jan. 6, the first anniversary of the riot at the U.S. Capitol that the former president himself was accused of instigating.

“Why isn’t the highly partisan political hacks screening committee investigating the CAUSE of the Jan. 6 protest, which was the 2020 rigged presidential election?” Trump said Tuesday in his statement announcing the press conference.

The former president went on to cite several states where he claimed “the numbers aren’t working for them, or even approaching them.” He also sought to reframe the November 2020 election as “the insurrection,” instead of the day his supporters stormed the Capitol in an attempt to block the certification of election results.

“I will have a press conference on January 6 at Mar-a-Lago to discuss all of these points, and more,” Trump said. “Until then, remember, the insurrection took place on November 3, it was the totally unarmed demonstration of the rigged election which had taken place on January 6.”

Earlier this week, President Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) announced that his office intends to hold a “prayer vigil” and a discussion among historians about the next anniversary of the attack.

The White House also said it commemorate the day.

“Jan. 6 was one of the darkest days in our democracy,” the White House spokesman said. Jen Psaki noted. “It was a day when our nation’s capital was attacked and I think there is no doubt that you will see us commemorating that day.”

More than 700 people have been charged in connection with the riot, when pro-Trump supporters stormed the Capitol and shoved police officers. Dozens more have been subpoenaed for the House Select Committee investigation.

Several people died amid the Capitol siege, including a pro-Trump supporter who was shot by a Capitol police officer, while others were injured.
