ASM Global’s Tech Port Center + Arena in San Antonio, TX opened with a sold-out show from Smashing Pumpkins.
The company hailed the new 3,300 capsule facility, which hosts upcoming concerts by Rise Against, Papa Roach and Boyz II Men, as “the most technologically advanced lifestyle entertainment venue in the world.”
ASM has integrated a host of local brands into the design of the resort – which also includes a gym, museum and food hall – through its culinary division Savor.
“This was an inventive solution for a very specific company reflecting a deep community project of immense importance to San Antonio,” said Shaun Beard, senior vice president of food and beverage, ASM Global. “This is a project involving the public and private sector with a national and international scope.
“Food hall, arena, VIP and cap revenue exceeded our opening projections by 41%”
“Food hall, arena, VIP and cap revenue exceeded our opening projections by 41%,” he adds. “It reflects an unorthodox but very comfortable reconfiguration of not only the physics of our POS positions, but also the local flavors familiar to our audience.”
Savor also introduced the world’s only self-ordering bar with oversized TV screens and facial recognition for bespoke cocktails. The system remembers the orders, rearranges them and then sends customers their tab.
ASM plans to roll out the system, which previously had a beta at its Vystar Arena in Jacksonville, to select locations in its international portfolio.
