SER Medical Department Hosts 40th Annual CME Conference and Program

The 40th annual conference and Continuing Medical Education (CME) program organized by the Scientific Forum of Physicians at Central Hospital, South Eastern Railway was inaugurated at BNR Auditorium, Garden Reach on 28th October.

Dr. Prasanna Kumar, Managing Director, Railway Health Services, was the guest of honor on the occasion and opened the two-day conference. Archana Joshi, Managing Director, South Eastern Railway presided over the ceremony. Dr. G. Hariharan, Retired Chief Medical Director, SER, was guest of honour, while Dr. AK Malhotra, Senior Executive Director (Health), Railway Board was special guest at the inaugural ceremony. Atulya Sinha, Additional Managing Director, SER, Dr. Mihir Kumar Choudhury, Senior Chief Medical Director, SER and Dr. Anjana Malhotra, Medical Director, SER Central Hospital were also present at the inaugural ceremony. The main chief medical directors of different area railways also attended the conference.

In her speech, Dr. Prasanna Kumar, Director General of Railway Health Services, advised SER doctors to do all they can to uphold the tradition of achieving excellence. He also mentioned the contribution of SE Railway doctors in providing the best medical care to achieve patient satisfaction.

Archana Joshi, Managing Director, South Eastern Railway, speaking on the occasion, spoke of the commendable service rendered by SE Railway doctors during the Covid pandemic. She also mentioned the recent technological upgrade of the SER central hospital, including the installation of a liquid medical oxygen plant, a PSA plant, a 128-slice CT unit, Modular OTs, etc.

This year, the theme of the CME conference and program is “ONWARDS & UPWARDS” with the objective of providing new ideas and thoughts to juniors and ensuring a quantum leap in the quality of service provided.

South Eastern Railway Central Hospital, Garden Reach is a 303 bed tertiary care hospital and will complete its 60th anniversary in April 2023. It provides secondary and tertiary care services to the satisfaction of all beneficiaries. Each year, the hospital holds an annual conference where physicians from all specialties gather and discuss the latest advances in the field of medicine. Eminent specialists from all fields give lectures and enlighten the participants.

Senior doctors from SER Central Hospital and Divisional Hospitals and several medical luminaries from the city of Kolkata and retired railway doctors are attending the two-day conference.
