Ashford Castle has been confirmed as the venue for the prestigious Travel Classics International writers conference in 2023. The announcement was made during the Travel Classics West conference, which took place in Colorado.
It is seen as a major blow to Irish tourism that the Travel Classics 2023 international conference is taking place here. It brings together celebrity editors from a range of high profile publications – including titles like Conde Nast Traveler, National Geographic Traveler and AWAY magazine.
The 2023 conference will take place at Ashford Castle over four days (April 24-27), during which freelance US travel writers will have the opportunity to hold one-on-one meetings with editors from leading travel publications and lifestyle in the United States.
Alison Metcalfe, Tourism Ireland’s North America manager, says it will bring huge visibility to both Mayo and Ireland to show what is on offer for American holidaymakers..
The Travel Classics International writers conference has already taken place around the island of Ireland – at the Lyrath Hotel in Co. Kilkenny (2017), Ballymaloe House in Co. Cork (2013), Conrad Dublin (2011), Fitzwilliam Hotel Belfast (2009), The g Hotel in Galway (2007) and the Park Hotel Kenmare (2005).
