The Labor Party is expected to officially launch its presidential campaign in Nasarawa State on October 18, 2022.
Alexander Emmanuel, the party’s state chairman, revealed this to reporters at a press conference on Thursday.
At the press conference in Lafia, Emmanuel said arrangements had been made for the exercise.
According to him, the party chose Nasarawa for the presidential campaign flag because of the support the people of the state have shown for their presidential candidate, Peter Obi, and his running mate, Yusuf Ahmed-Datti.
He praised party supporters across the country for their efforts so far in soliciting more support for the Obi/Datti ticket.
He said, “Just as other states in the country overwhelmingly supported the Labor Party presidential candidate, Nasarawa State was the first to stage a street march in favor of the Obi/Datti ticket.
“And I think that should be the reason why the LP national leadership chose Nasarawa State for the campaign flag on October 18, 2022.”
Emmanuel said they were putting the finishing touches on the arrangement to ensure a smooth campaign, adding that party supporters and other Nigerians were expected from across the country to grace the occasion.
“So, I urge all who yearn for a better Nigeria to come out in numbers to welcome Obi/Datti to Lafia on Tuesday 18th October,” he said.
The State Speaker expressed his optimism that the LP will win the general election in 2023 given the confidence of Nigerians in Obi and other candidates to improve things in the country.
