With COP26 fast approaching, you may be wondering how the younger generation can add their voice to the global conversation on climate change.
Well, we’ve got the answer and it’s coming to Glasgow soon.
EXTREME International, in partnership with One Young World, has created THE EXTREME HANGOUT: an 11-day youth-focused climate change conference taking place in Glasgow during COP26.
THE EXTREME HANGOUT AT COP26 promises to be a dynamic, collaborative and creative hub for young people to come together, share ideas, be inspired and walk away with renewed passion, understanding and urgency to move the green agenda forward. .
Located on the ferry, which is permanently moored at Anderston Quay on the River Clyde, this floating climate change conference and entertainment center features energetic live discussions from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and evening entertainment from 7 p.m. to midnight, with panels organized with One Young World.
The delegates and guests of THE EXTREME HANGOUT, powered by OVO, will not be afraid to have difficult conversations, tackle big problems, overturn the status quo and promise concrete solutions and actions to fight against climate change.
What’s new ?
Each day the event will cover a key topic through a series of free panel discussions from some of the world’s largest organizations and inspiring individuals; experts, activists, agitators, celebrities, artists, musicians – all of whom are committed to the climate action agenda.
Planned topics include a panel on climate justice chaired by Channel 4’s Krishnan Guru-Murthy, discussing the intersectionality of sustainability with class, gender, race and how those least responsible for the issues are most likely to endure. the weight of the negative effects of the climate crisis.
All roundtables will be televised live around the world, with highlights available on EXTREME’s website, social pages and partner platforms.
In addition to the panel discussions, throughout the 11 days of the event, guests will be able to browse an exhibition of climate photographs and relax and rejuvenate in the cafe where guests are encouraged to bring their own coffee mugs and reusable water bottles.
From 7 p.m. to midnight there will be film screenings and stimulating debates, followed by live acoustic music by world-renowned musicians and DJs from 9 p.m. to midnight.
