Chan named conference selection for NCAA Woman of the Year

EWING, N.J. – Former TCNJ Women’s Swimming Star Zoe Chan this week was named an NJAC nominee for the NCAA Woman of the Year Award. The NCAA Woman of the Year program was established in 1991 and honors the academic achievement, athletic excellence, community service and leadership of female graduate athletes from all three divisions.

Chan has been NJAC’s top female swimmer for the past three seasons. She was named NJAC Swimmer of the Year in 2020, 2021 and 2022, and she earned All-America honors in 2020 and 2022. She was an 18-time NJAC Champion and she was also named Conference Swimmer of the week 11 times. . In 2022, Chan broke the TCNJ program record in the 200 butterfly at 2:01.6 to finish third at the NCAA Championships.

Outside of the pool, Chan was selected to the NJAC All-Star Team three times and was named to the TCNJ Dean’s List six times. She was a member of the TCNJ chapter of The Hidden Opponent, a mental health advocacy group for student-athletes. She was also a four-year member of the TCNJ National Student Speech-Language Hearing Association.

Conference-level nominations will be forwarded to the NCAA Woman of the Year Selection Committee, which will choose the top 10 winners from each of the three NCAA divisions. The NCAA will announce the top 30 winners on in October.

Chan joins TCNJ Lacrosse’s Jennifer LaRocca as conference nominees.

Among these 30 candidates, the selection committee determines the first three finalists of each division. The NCAA Committee on Women’s Athletics will select the Woman of the Year from the nine finalists. The 2022 NCAA Woman of the Year will be announced at an awards ceremony at the NCAA convention in January.
