ANC moves conference venue to Cape Town after CTICC sponsorship failed

Cape Town – The ANC Western Cape conference has been moved to a cheaper location after its planned sponsorship failed.

Originally planned for the Cape Town International Convention Center (CTICC), the two-day event will now be held at the Bellville campus of the Cape Peninsula University of Technology.

The outgoing provincial secretary of the party, Songezo Mjongile, said that two days before the conference, the alternative venue had to be confirmed because the sponsor had not yet paid for the CTICC.

“The ANC is a [non-government organisation], “he said.” We depend on the generosity of the sponsors.

Mjongile insisted that the location was not important, as the procedure could have taken place “under a tree or in a back room”.

ANC provincial president Marius Fransman said the rest of the conference would still go as planned as “the respective service providers have been redirected.”

The two-day conference will take place Saturday and Sunday and a new provincial executive will be elected.
